Leura Railway Station was part of the TfNSW Transport Access Program (TAP) which was to provide better experience for public transport customers across the station by ensuring infrastructure improvements are delivered in a coordinated and integrated way.

A newly designed concourse and entry was conducted and designed by CCG Architects where the installation of a new lift from ground level to platform level provides easy access for wheel chair and pram vertical circulation. The Railway Station was also provided with a new canopy to shelter commuters along with platform level.

The upgraded station has also been added with a taxi stand and Kiss n' Ride along Railway Parade. To provide easy access from the services an installation of a ramp was integrated from the drop off/pick up zone to the concourse of the station.

The safety regulation within the station was also improved with a glazed screen to prevent any incidents to the elevated concourse. The glazing is to act as an anti-throw screen and also barrier to the station.

 Key benefits included in scope:

- New lift and stairs, a new canopy over the lift, stairs and part of the platform;

- Upgrading of public toilet facilities;

- Formalised taxi rank on Railway Parade and an accessible path from the station to the taxi rank and addition of accessible parking;

- New Kiss n' Ride zone, bicycle facilities and improved lighting and CCTV security surveillance;

- New precast concrete walls with glazing above the footbridge;

- New equipment room in existing Heritage platform building;

- Resurfacing of platform to provide level access to public access doorways;
